Hi Sam,
Hi all,

No post about this potential new gem ! :o

https://www.cloudynights.com/topic/5914 ... g/?hl=+294

Please Sam, give us more informations :
- Beta-testers needed ?
- Price ?
- amp-glow ?
- cooling ?
- Is it supported by Firecapture and SharpCap ?

I'm waiting for a camera "large" sensor to replace IMX178 and it's boring little pixels. My goal
is to use it in short exposures to have a color layer to add to a monochrome layer from
an other camera. ;)

we already sent 2 for testing
the price will be around $100 more than color 1600
it will come in cooled and uncooled version

the ASI183 is a big 178 and have mono version, so you can consider this camera

Ok, I'm following the post on Cloudy Night.

OK, so nearly $800 for uncooled version and $1050 for cooled version ?

No, sorry Sam but I'm not interested in little 2.4 micron pixels.
A monochrome IMX294 would be perfect but I guess that it will be only a dream ?
Other solution could be IMX420, very interesting sensor, but I guess that price will be
scary !

Hi Sam,

An other important point is maximum frame rate.
Considering you have a "big" PC setup, what will be the maximum possible fps of ASI 294 at full frame ?
Sensor is announced for an impressive 120 fps and beta-testing on Cloudy Night is far away from this value.

Thanks.

I guess that this value is in 16 bits mode ?
What is the max fps in 8 (or 10 ?) bits mode ?

OK, thanks.

OK Sam,

This sensor has a very strange behaviour compared to the others !

An other important question for planetary use : is 120 frames/sec in bin 2
2048 (H) × 1080 (V) mode possible or not with ASI 294 ?

Many thanks !

Hi Sam and everyone. I am new to the forum.

I am very interested in the ASI294 and will follow this closely. I am wondering if you could give us some idea for when we could expect to see the new ASI294 start to be sold/shipped (I am interested in the non-cooled version). I understand that development schedules are difficult things to commit to so I am simply asking for a broad time-frame. If you are comfortable giving any guidance here it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Marc
