this sounds promising, but I am not a coder, I don't understand how to download and use this on my mac ??

Hi, no problem, if you just go to http://blog.gulinux.net/en/planetary-imager/downloads and follow the "Development Releases" (or Stable, when I'll publish it, it should be soon) link, you will see a dropbox page, with a dmg for Mac on it :)
